A steel logistics center in Wolfsburg has been managed by Panopa for the suppliers of Volkswagen AG since 2001. Coils and sheet in the warehouse are delivered just- in- time to the pressing machines and shears of Volkswagen AG. Cutting-edge material handling equipment, air conditioning and an IT system which allows the customer to pull material as needed at the point of use ensure shop supplies which are both exactly on time and gentle to the material.

The 22,000 sq.m. warehouse is designed for an annual 850,000 tons of steel.

The logistics center designed and built by Panopa is located at a distance of 8 kilometers from the Volkswagen factory. All deliveries are by train. These trains cross the Berlin-to-Hanover high speed train line six times a day within very narrow time limits – A true logistic masterpiece which also sets environmental standards.
